Big Time Local Comedy Club and Big Time Local Newspaper at an Open Mic Near You?
Psst! Word on the street is that the general manager of a prominent local comedy club has a Chicago newspaper following him around to open mics in the city. It is there that the GM has reportedly been seen giving new comics "advice" while the newsman snaps photos.
Genuine move to cultivate new talent or clever PR move for prominent local comedy club? This is yet to be known, but based on a piece a big Chicago newspaper did awhile ago on the local scene, in which the general manager of the big local comedy club was quoted as saying (paraphrased), "the local scene needs a good showcase room to develop talent," we're banking on the latter.
