Drinking Shenanigans with Sean Flannery!? We Would Never!

The plan for the Bastion Friday night was to go home directly after work and be super productive all evening. After tuning in to VLR that afternoon and hearing guest Sean Flannery on air, our thoughts turned to those ever-so-lovely happy hour beers we often enjoy many a weekday. It could be said that Sean is the drinkingest comic in the Chicago stand-up scene, as evidenced by his stories, both on-stage and at the pub (where we're often seen hanging out with him). Imagine our thrill when he popped on AIM and invited us out to the Sea of Happiness (inside the Cass Hotel on Wabash Ave.) for the first in a series of dive bars he was planning on 'visiting' that evening. As it turns out, local filmmaker/improvisor/super fan Jason Czernich was also meeting Sean to film a series of interviews, to be conducted at the various establishments, for what is hoped to be a short film series developed for the Lincoln Lodge. As the Bastion a) likes their beer, and b) is beyond antsy waiting for the Lincoln Lodge to resume regular run (October 5, to be precise!), we couldn't NOT meet Sean and crew out for "a beer or two".
6:00 p.m. -- meet up with Sean and Bill Cruz for a few pitchers and shop talk.
7:00 p.m. -- film crew shows up (including Mike of the Fruit Stripes).
9:00 p.m. -- head over to Rossi's on State St.
10 p.m. -- stop at the Boss for "just one".
12:00 a.m. -- get back up north; stop at Richard's for impromptu dance party.
2:00 a.m. -- stop in at what could possibly be where dreams actually move in to die, Max's, in Uptown.
Ouch. Rough morning.
