Friday Free-For-All
Whew, what a week. So many shows, so little time to write about them. There was the Bird's Nest on Monday, ChUC at Gunther Murphy's Tuesday, a little visiting with Hannibal at his Zanies feature set Wednesday night, and, last night, Robert Buscemi's DVD filming AND a SpitFire show. More details on that stuff next week, after we've logged in a few quality disco naps.
What else is going on? The Blerds boys redesigned their site, and are soon to feature those new clips we got a sneak peek at not long ago. After a torturous round of "20 Questions," we also got the inside scoop in who the newest official Blerd is, although we're sworn to secrecy. Really, we'd tell you, but Bridenstine would kick our asses. (We're proud to have figured it out after only 16 questions, though.) Also, maybe we shouldn't call them the "Blerds boys" anymore, since it seems they aren't opposed to letting girls play in their clubhouse, what with Lauren Bishop being allowed to write about the FBI's takedown of America's latest religious looney.
Joselyn Hughes is splitting Chi-Town for the shiny appeal of the Big Apple. Others are rumored to be considering the same. We're sad to see some of our friends go, but psyched at the thought of subletting their apartments for way cheap, so it's, you know, bittersweet.
And, of course, our usual recommendations for weekend comedy offerings: we're feeling especially lazy today, so here's a link to the Reader's listing of some of our faves, including The Cupid Players, Baby Wants Candy (featuring our latest comedy crush, Thomas Middleditch), Overstock, and Don't Spit the Water, in addition to Darrell Hammond's stint at the Improv in Schaumburg, with our friends Ms. Bishop up on emcee duties and Mr. TJ Miller featuring for Darrell (The Bastion will be riding up in the Ford Focus with Mr. Miller for Saturday's show, so road shenanigans will be reported on next week). Oh! And Sports Action Team debuts in Chicago on Sunday, at 11:30pm, on WMAQ. See ya Monday!
