Saturday Stutters
Okay, so we didn't post yesterday. We're not perfect. Here's a very special Saturday posting, to get your springtime weekend off to a daisy fresh start.
Chicago's own Claire Zulkey recently interviewed one of our favorite comedians, Zach Galifianakis, who Bastion contributor Chris Burns interviewed a while back, as well. What did Zach and Claire talk about? Lots of things, including Zach's best-known character on Reno 911: "I know the guys at Reno 911 and they asked me to come up with a character. I have always wanted to change my name to Frisbee or Kleenex. A brand. I also like the name Banjo Pussywhistle. My real name is not Zach Galifianakis. That is a stage name. My real name is Chad Farthouse."
Also, it's the first Saturday of the month, and you know what that means. You want to go to the Playground for a Blewt! double header! Don't Spit the Water will be followed by Blewt!'s awesomely crazy variety hour, A Demon Who Never Appeared. "Comics, magicians, banana dancers... everything is fair game! Hosted by the affable Kumail, the show is set upon each month by an evil demon who wants to destroy it. Each month, comedy prevails! Stick around after Don't Spit the Water on Saturday and be a part of the madness!"
And hey, Maria Bamford is headed to the Lakeshore Theater for shows on May 18 and 19, and the Bastion is thrilled to announce that we're going to get her on the telly for a little interview ahead of time. Yes, we have Maria Bamford's cell phone number. And we're not sharing.
